Media specialists

Soweto sista Kutloano Skosana (31), Mosotho/English girl Maria McCloy (30) and Zimbabwean guy Addiel Dzinoreva (Dzino) (34) are friends and partners who started their Jozi-based multimedia company Black Rage Productions in 1995, when they were students at Rhodes University.

Back then creating South African media products centred on South Africa’s exciting local urban culture (music, fashion, arts, media, literature) was just a dream, but through their hard work and passion for the scene they report on and are part of; their dream is now a reality Aside from creating shows like Bassiq (SABC 1) and Channel O’s Headrush and Kasi 101, scripting the South African Music Awards and contributing to overseas magazines like Trace and Dazed and Confused, these youth culture specialists have done consultancy work for advertising agencies and international media companies and record labels, releasing a CD of South African urban sounds called Msanzi Music with a German label to Europe; been newsreaders and news editors at Kaya and Metro fm; currently present a show on SAFM called It’s Friday Night; and produced SABC1 documentaries like The Kwaito Generals which was about kwaito’s forefathers Arthur, Oskido and Mdu as well as pieces on Irvin Khoza and Busi Mhlongo for SABC3’s Unauthorised series.
