Kennedy (KGB) Bungane

Director at Standard Bank Corporate and Investment Banking

KGB is a member of the executive committee and a director at Standard Bank Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB).

Previously the head of black economic empowerment finance at the CIB, he has recently returned to the bank’s global markets (treasury) division as head of sales. This function includes funding, interest rate derivative sales, equity derivative sales, commodities sales, primary market sales and bond sales business units. KGB started his career at Standard Bank in forex trading and, after a short stint at Real Africa Durolink Investment Bank where he helped establish a Corporate Forex Treasury, he returned to Standard Bank to launch and head up the forex sales: new business development unit. He then progressed to the corporate banking division, where he was a director looking after the public sector unit, Pretoria unit and the food and agricultural pharmaceutical sector unit.

KGB has a BCom degree in investment finance and corporate finance from the University of Natal, a certificate in foreign exchange markets and an MBA in advanced corporate finance from the University of Pretoria (GIBS Campus). KGB was national president of the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals until the end of 2005 and in this role was one of the negotiators and authors of the Financial Sector Charter.
