ltumeleng, who is currently working as a communication strategist for Spin Media, has opinions that make people sit up and look around.
His thought-provoking articles have won numerous awards and he is a well-respected journalist. He was the the first black winner of the Sanlam Financial Journalist of the Year in 2003, and has won two Mondi awards.ln 2002, he won the Bessie Head Fellowship for his proposal The Native Bourgeoisie: The Rise and Rise of Sooth Africa’s Merchant Class.
Before joining Spin Media, Itumeleng was managing editor at the Financial Mail. He was also a columnist for the Financial Mail, writing on politics, and a specialist writer on black economic empowerment. Itumeleng is the founding editor of Y Mag and has also worked as a communications consultant for the Johannesburg Metro Council.
He currently writes a bi-monthly macro- and political-economy column for the Sunday Times’s Business Times.
