Nano is the founder and MD of Dukari, a black- and female-owned publicity and content management consultancy that specialises in the finance, ICT, mining, engineering and public sectors.

During the same period she was briefly involved in broadcast media, having initiated and produced a one-time documentary called Sabela for the SABC, which further broadened her experience in the media industry. She has a BA (geography, philosophy and psychology) degree from Wits University and after a short stint as a climatology intern at the South African Weather Bureau, Nano returned to Wits to complete her honours in media studies. She also worked as a public relations account executive at Leo Burnett International.
