Anglican Students Federation coordinator
Odwa is coordinator of the affairs of the Anglican Students Federation (ASF) for the Church of the Province of Southern Africa, which covers five regional countries as well as South Africa, and which has a membership of about 2 500 students. The young man from Butterworth in the Eastern Cape is making a big contribution to youth leadership within the Anglican Church.
Odwa studied human resource management at Peninsula Technikon and now works for the church full time in Cape Town. He has served for three consecutive years on the executive of the ASF, including two years as chair of its Western Cape region. His vision? “To fight poverty and unemployment by ensuring that everyone with skills or experience transfers them to the unskilled and the inexperienced”. His current challenge is organising this year’s ASF congress, Thuma Mina (Isaiah 6:8), or “Send Me”. His goal? “To challenge students to move out of their comfort zones and begin addressing the needs of fellow South Africans!’
