Solomzi (Solly) Tyibilika
Solly is a Springbok and Sharks flanker.
Just three years ago, Solly was playing club rugby. But after travelling to Durban for a club competition and being spotted by then-Sharks coach Kevin Putt, he has quickly risen to Springbok level, having now played five Tests in the green and gold. Born in Port Elizabeth in 1979, the highly regarded flanker attended Loyiso High and then the University of Port Elizabeth and represented Eastern Province at under-15, under-17, under-18, under-19 and under- 21 level. He first achieved national recognition when he was selected for the South African “A” side in 2004.
Solly then made his Springbok debut against Scotland at Murrayfield in Edinburgh at the end of that same year and has once again been included in this season’s Springbok squad.
