Zuraida hosts 5FM’s weekday brunch session and she has gained immense popularity in her time at the station with her lust-for-life attitude.
After completing school in Johannesburg she was due to study broadcasting journalism in Santa Monica in the United States but, when her visa was turned down at the last moment, she ended up touring the world instead.
On her return to South Africa Zuraida graduated with a diploma in journalism and a further two international diplomas from the New York Business Institute. While on holiday in Cape Town in 1994, she auditioned as a DJ with regional radio station Good Hope Fm and got the job. After five years at Good Hope she was lured back to Jozi by 5FM, where, in addition to pulsing “Zee power” across the airwaves, Zuraida presented for SABC, M-Net and e.tv, on shows including Woza Weekend and Big Brother II.
She was further entrusted with delving deeper into the housemates’ minds while hosting the psychological Big Brother show, Headspace. More recently, Zuraida hosted her own weekly TV talk show on M-Net, was a presenter of Viscious DeliCious for DStv’s Channel Go and was cast in the movie Confessions of a Gambler. She also won the first South African series of dancing reality show, Strictly Come Dancing earlier this year. Zuraida is married to film director Josh Lindberg, the son of veteran entertainers Des and Dawn Lindberg.
