Fashion designer

Abigail Betz heads up the Abigail Betz House of Couture, one of South Africa’s most successful clothing labels.

This young designer has been forging her way through the South African fashion industry since she graduated from Natal Technikon in 1995. After moving to Cape Town, Betz began her first label, dubbed Juniper, at the Young Designer’s Emporium. Today, Betz’s solo range is sold at Rosebank Mall’s The Space and she has her studio in her hometown of Parys.

It is here, too, that she launched her spa, Salon De Beaute La Femme Yole, and showroom in early 2007. Betz has graced the front covers of publications such as Elle, De Kat, Sarie and Pursuit and has been featured in international design magazine Wallpaper. She is a regular at Sanlam SA Fashion Week. Betz believes that you must be the best at whatever you do, regardless of the field in which you work.

She says that a key to her success has been to focus on client service, ensuring each customer feels cherished and special.
