Nothando Ndebele received the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals' 2006 Woman in Focus award. She is the head of research at Renaissance Asset Management and one of the firm's founding partners. Previously, she was portfolio manager of the Africa portfolios and a investment analyst at Investec Asset Management. Prior to Investec, Ndebele worked for four years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in the United Kingdom, where she was an executive director on the pan-European equities portfolio management team. Nothando is also a director of The Business Place, a non-profit organisation based in Phillipi, Cape Town. Its primary activity is to create new businesses and jobs by nurturing an entrepreneurial culture within the local community. She holds a BA in economics and women's studies from Harvard University. She was named a Rhodes scholar in 1998 and obtained an MBA and a master's degree in social anthropology from Oxford University. Ndebele enjoys reading and travelling.
