Prior to joining Metropolitan Asset Managers (Metam), Rejane Woodroffe spent four years at Merrill Lynch as an economist and on the fixed-interest sales trading desk. She was appointed to Metam in January 2002, primarily to strengthen the international team, but has extended her reach to incorporate full responsibility for local and global economic research.
She returned to South Africa after completing her master’s in economics at the University of Sussex in 2005. Woodroffe has since significantly expanded the Metam international offering and brought much of it in-house. In August last year, Woodroffe won the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals Top Economist of the Year award for producing insightful, thought-provoking research in her field as well as for her contribution to policy debate in South Africa.
She was also singled out by the president for her contribution in this regard. Woodroffe is Metam’s chief economist and heads up the international investment team
