Paula Proudlock

Child rights programme manager, Children's Institute

As a child rights programme manager at the University of Cape Town's Children's Institute, Paula Proudlock facilitates access between social workers, teachers and various children's organisations and Parliament. Her work has broken down the barrier between government and the agencies working on the ground. She has managed civil society campaigns on laws aimed at children's rights on social security, healthcare services, social services and protection from abuse and neglect. Proudlock, who already has a law degree, is completing her master's degree in public law at the University of Stellenbosch. She is a founding member of the Alliance for Children's Entitlement to Social Security and serves on its board. Proudlock was also the manager of the Children's Bill Working Group, the civil society network that actively participated in the making of the Children's Bill in Parliament from 2002 to 2008. Jane Steinacker
